Jordaan to get a Fifa post

07 September 2018 -SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan was overwhelmingly voted to be the candidate to represent the 14-member COSAFA Region for the vacant FIFA Executive Committee member.

The elections for the vacant position will take place on 30 September 2018 in Cairo, Egypt.

COSAFA had three candidates, Dr Jordaan, Malawi’s Walter Nyamilandu Manda and Elvis Chetty of Seychelles vying for the same position but COSAFA President, Phillip Chiyangwa of Zimbabwe requested that the Region vote as a bloc and must support a single candidate.

All candidates were therefore asked to make presentations before the voting took place on who should be COSAFA’s sole representative.

The former FIFA World Cup CEO whose massive international experience is unmatched, put up an excellent presentation that gave him the popular vote. The other two candidates, Nyamilandu Manda and Chetty received 4 and 2 votes each respectively.

Chiyangwa was voted in as the new CAF Executive Commiittee member taking over from Zambia’s Kalusha Bwalya who was suspended by FIFA.
