The Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO) has launched a new Digital Application Process to streamline applications for affordable rental housing, enhance security, and combat fraud.
This innovative system aims to guide residents through a transparent application journey, ensuring clarity and preventing misinformation.
Central to the new process is a QR code-based pre-screening registration, serving as the official entry point. These QR codes are exclusively available on JOSHCO’s verified platforms, including its official website and social media channels like Facebook [@JoshcoRentals], Instagram [@Myjoshco], Twitter [@Myjoshco], and LinkedIn [@Johannesburg Social Housing Company].
Applicants who meet the initial qualifying criteria will be contacted directly by JOSHCO Leasing Administrators to submit supporting documents. A unique reference number will be assigned to each approved applicant for all communications and payments.
“JOSHCO strictly enforces that deposits are only accepted through its official Standard Bank account, never via individuals or third parties,” says Nokwazi Mtshali, Acting CEO of JOSHCO.
In addition, JOSHCO has introduced a mobile application to communicate vacant units and allow users to track application status and access information, although the app is currently undergoing technical resolution. The initiative reinforces JOSHCO’s zero-tolerance policy on fraud and corruption, strongly advising against bribes or unofficial agents.
