All eyes and spotlight will be at the City of Johannesburg’s Connie Bapela Chambers when the newly appointed Executive Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda is expected to deliver his maiden State of the City address (SOCA)following his appointment 35 days ago.
Gwamanda is a member of the Al Jama-ah party in the city council who received the backing of the ANC, EFF and other minority parties.
At a Briefing today, Council Speaker Colleen Makhubele told a handfull of journalists, its all systems go for this exciting and momentous event.
“It’s a vehicle for the mayor to summarise the council’s accomplishments.”
Makhubele also revealed SOCA will be followed by a debate of the Mayor’s speech on Wednesday by all the political parties in the city.
“Everything will be under control even though we anticipate protest. This is the time people want to get attention of the City. Everything will be in place,” She said.
