LIMPOPO CROWNS BEST SMMES AT 2025 BUSINESS AWARDS, DRIVING PROVINCIAL ECONOMIC GROWTH

 The Limpopo Business Awards crowned the province’s most innovative and impactful Small, Micro, and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMMEs) at a prestigious ceremony held on Wednesday, 2 April 2025.

This year’s Limpopo Business Awards drew 167 entries from across the province, with a particularly strong showing from the agriculture sector. A total of 42 businesses were shortlisted, reflecting not only the strength and diversity of Limpopo’s business landscape, but also the growing depth of entrepreneurial activity in the province.

The awards, a collaboration between the Limpopo Provincial Government and Standard Bank South Africa, are a critical platform for supporting entrepreneurship as they celebrate businesses that have not only demonstrated resilience, creativity, but also a commitment to driving sustainable economic growth and job creation in Limpopo.

Each of the category winners walk away with R85,000 in prize money. They, along with all finalists from this year’s awards, also gain access to the Standard Bank Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) programme, which offers tailored support, mentorship, market access and finance solutions.

2025 Limpopo Business Awards winners are:

·       Health & Wellness category winner:

Molecular Imaging Therapy

Founded by Dr. Ntanganedzeni Muambadzi, the business is led by one of South Africa’s foremost nuclear medicine specialists and is the first Black woman-owned Positron Emission Tomography (PET) / Computed Tomography (CT) scan facility in the world. The business is committed to delivering cutting-edge, accessible diagnostic services.

·       Transport & Logistics category winner:

Trash Converters

Founded by Rotondwa Musitha in Makhado, Trash Converters specialises in the collection and transportation of hazardous and general waste. With a strong focus on environmental sustainability and youth employment, the business is shaping the province’s green economy.

·       Manufacturing category winner:

The Real Makoya Cleaning Chemicals

Established by Lebogang Moloto, the business produces eco-friendly soaps and cleaning products and was the first of its kind in Limpopo to be accepted into the Shoprite Supplier Development Programme. The company is driven by a vision to combine sustainability with inclusive employment.

·       Education & Training category winner:

Bolobathaba Media Group

Founded by Molatelo Bossman, an award-winning filmmaker and social entrepreneur, Bolobathaba trains young filmmakers and digital creatives, transforming storytelling from rural South Africa into a professional, global craft.

·       Mining category winner:

Twothy Business Solutions

Founded by Malema Dorothy Moyo, a veteran boilermaker with 23 years of experience, the Mokopane-based engineering company delivers mining maintenance, repairs, installation and supply services while also offering accredited portable skills training.

·       Tourism category winner:

Xclusive Spot Restaurant

Based in Seshego and led by Mashapa Malema, Xclusive Spot is a unique venue blending food, entertainment and car wash services. It is a thriving cultural space that promotes local artists and community engagement.

·       Agriculture category winner:

Morajana Animal Production

Owned by Tshegofatso Tjale, the company focuses on pig farming and crop production while employing mostly women and mentoring aspiring young farmers in the community.

The Limpopo Business Awards are a collaborative initiative between the Limpopo Provincial Government and Standard Bank South Africa. The awards aim to spotlight and celebrate the critical role of SMMEs in building a resilient and inclusive economy.

The Standard Bank Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) programme, which all finalists gain access to, is a comprehensive support solution designed to accelerate the growth and sustainability of qualifying black-owned businesses. The programme provides:

  • Access to finance: including working capital and asset finance tailored to business needs.
  • Non-financial support: such as strategic mentoring, operational support, and leadership development.
  • Market access: integrating SMMEs into corporate and government supply chains to strengthen their commercial viability.
  • Capacity building: with training, development tools, and business coaching to ensure long-term sustainability.
