MAMELODI SUNDOWNS INTERNSHIP OPEN TO YOUNGSTERS

Mamelodi Sundowns has again opened its doors for the youth by launching the Live Limitless Internship Programme for the 2023 intake.

Seven (7) spots will be available to the successful applicants between the ages of 18 and 34.

The program was launched calling on the youth to apply from the 07th of June, with the internship expected to run for a full season from August 2023 to June 2024.

Although Youth Month is a very important period of the year when South Africa pays special attention to its youth, at Sundowns we believe that young people and their challenges should be highlighted and attended to throughout the year.

This was a key factor behind why Mamelodi Sundowns launched the concept of offering internships as a long term tool to combat one of the biggest problems our youth face, which is “unemployment.”

To give opportunities to more youngsters, Sundowns has increased the intake with 2 additional positions and offered new departmental roles.

Giving perspective on the program, the Chairman of Mamelodi Sundowns, Tlhopie Motsepe, said, “This year we have increased the internship from 5 to 7 positions, not only for more young people to get an opportunity to work in the club but also because we trying to offer experience in a variety of departments which will include production, graphic design, data analysis and supporter mobilisation.

“ Reflecting on last years Internship program which was extended by 6 months to give the students 11 months of training, the Chairman of the club stated, Our Internship program helped to provide young people with valuable work experience, soft skills, a stipend and a stronger case for future employment.

The past year with our 5 interns has been very special, both for our young cohorts and everyone at the club. The interns have all grown personally and professionally; but I am proud to say that they have also helped our staff develop too.”

Having young minds in the workplace has taught us how to be better mentors, better leaders, and to pay attention to the youth in everything we do.“

Sundowns will be keeping two interns from last year‘s program, Pogiso Mosothoane (Photographer) and Thoriso Madisha (Tiktok Content Creator). Pogiso, who traveled to Morocco with the Sundowns Ladies Team for the CAF Women‘s African Champions League in 2022 spoke about his experience,

“I have gained and learnt a lot. I thank Mamelodi Sundowns for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime. I have met people that I never thought I would meet and travelled to places that I only dreamed of. The internship has really changed my life.“

The 2023 intern positions available are: Graphic Designer, Marketing, Sports Researcher/Journalist, Production Intern, Content Creator, Supporters Mobilisation Coordinator and Data Analyst.

Applications will open on the 07th of June and close on the 30th of June 2023. Interested applicants can visit the Mamelodi Sundowns website (www.sundownsfc.com) for more information. Mamelodi Sundowns are proud of the first group of interns and we wish them the very best going forward. May they continue to Live Limitless!
