MMC SEKWALA LEADS HIGH-IMPACT SERVICE DELIVERY OPERATION IN IVORY PARK

The Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Environment and Infrastructure Services in the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Jack Sekwaila, led a high-impact service delivery operation in Region A’s Ivory Park on September 9 2025.

The operation formed part of the City of Johannesburg’s ongoing commitment to accelerate service delivery and restore dignity to communities through visible, on-the-ground action.

Joined by City officials and MMC for Community Development Cllr Tebogo Nkokou, Cllr Sekwaila worked alongside key municipal entities including the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), City Power, Johannesburg Water and Pikitup.

The operation focused on addressing some of the most pressing service delivery challenges in the community such as the repair of potholes, fixing of faulty streetlights, unblocking of water infrastructure, refuse collection, and visible law enforcement to ensure compliance with the City’s by-laws.

Speaking to residents during the operation, MMC Sekwaila appealed to communities not to disrupt service delivery when they are aggrieved, but instead to engage through proper channels. He emphasised that the City’s leadership is determined to bring about real and lasting improvements in people’s lives.

“We are going back to basics and focusing on delivering the quality services our residents deserve. This operation is not just about fixing potholes or repairing streetlights; it is about restoring confidence and demonstrating that the concerns of our communities are being heard and addressed. As leadership, we are committed to turning the City around—one region at a time,” Sekwaila assured.

The hands-on campaign in Ivory Park forms part of a series of targeted interventions being rolled out across Johannesburg, reinforcing the City’s commitment to sustainable, reliable, and responsive service delivery.
