Through the MTN8 Goals for Charity initiative, MTN, the Premier Soccer League, and reigning 2025 MTN8 champions Orlando Pirates Football Club continue to demonstrate the powerful impact of the MTN8 tournament beyond the football pitch. As part of the initiative, office equipment valued at R80,000.00 was handed over to the Zodwa Khoza Foundation, highlighting how goals scored during the tournament translate into meaningful support for community-driven organisations.

The handover marks the fourth consecutive  year that Orlando Pirates FC has  had the privilege to select a beneficiary of their choice, while this makes a third donation to the Zodwa Khoza Foundation, underscoring the Club’s long-standing commitment to supporting impactful, community-driven initiatives.

Under the MTN8 Goals for Charity initiative, MTN donates R20 000.00 for every goal scored in regulation time during the MTN8 tournament. The initiative continues to demonstrate how football can be leveraged as a force for good, ensuring that success on the pitch translates into meaningful support for communities across South Africa.

As the 2025/26 MTN8 Champions, Orlando Pirates were afforded the opportunity to nominate a charity of their choice to receive R80 000.00 from the total fund pool of R500 000.00. Their continued support of The Zodwa Khoza Foundation reflects a shared vision of sustainable community upliftment.

Commenting on the handover, MTN SA xxx said:

“The MTN8 Goals for Charity initiative remains a cornerstone of our commitment to giving back to the communities that support South African football. Seeing Orlando Pirates once again choose The Zodwa Khoza Foundation speaks to the real, lasting impact this partnership is making. At MTN, we are proud to use the power of football to create positive change beyond the game.”

“Initiatives such as MTN8 Goals for Charity, MTN8 Last Legends Standing, and the Dream Bag Initiative harness the power of football, culture, and fandom to drive sustainable community upliftment. Collectively, these form the MTN8 Legacy Programme – a platform that tells the story of how MTN’s involvement in South African football continues to shape and positively impact clubs, players, ordinary individuals, and communities beyond the field of play.”

A representative from The Zodwa Khoza Foundation welcomed the donation, saying:

“We are deeply grateful to MTN and Orlando Pirates for their continued belief in our work. This third donation is a testament to the strong relationship we have built over the years and will go a long way in helping us expand our programmes that focus on youth development, education and social welfare within our community.”

The Zodwa Khoza Foundation plays a vital role in supporting vulnerable communities through development-focused initiatives aimed at empowering young people and improving quality of life.

MTN remains committed to ensuring that the MTN8 tournament delivers value beyond entertainment, using the Goals for Charity initiative as a platform to drive meaningful social investment and long-term community impact.

The handover ceremony brings together representatives from MTN, PSL, Orlando Pirates, and The Zodwa Khoza Foundation to celebrate the powerful intersection of sporting excellence and purposeful giving.
