Cape Town City overcame Bloemfontein Celtic 4-2 in the DStv Premiership match at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

As a result, the Citizens climbed up to the fifth spot on the league standings, while Siwelele remained 15th on the log.
The Citizens were the better side in the opening stages exchanges with Fagrie Lakay and Mduduzi Mdantsane causing havoc for the Siwelele defence.
Celtic goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane was beaten by Lakay’s thunderous long-range shot, but the woodwork came to Celtic’s rescue in the 10th minute as the hosts pushed for the opening goal.
City deservedly took the lead when Mdantsane scored with a decent finish to make it 1-0 to the home side in the 17th minute, with Lakay grabbing an assist.
It was soon 2-0 to City after they were awarded a penalty following a foul on Lakay and the South Africa under-23 international stepped up and slotted it home in the 39th minute.
Celtic were also awarded a penalty almost immediately at the other end after a foul by Taariq Fielies in the box and Ndumiso Mabena converted from the spot-kick to make it 2-1.
However, Siwelele went to sleep and they were punished by Thabo Nodada, who beat Mabokgwane with a thunderous long-range shot to make it 3-1 to City heading into the half-time break.
City were leading 3-1 following an entertaining first-half in the Mother City.
The Citizens did not sit-back and defend their two-goal lead after the restart as they continued to launch attacks – searching for more goals.
City keeper Peter Leeuwenburgh’s long cross field ball found Bradley Ralani in a good position, but the speedy winger placed his shot wide of the target.
Teboho Potsane, who is an attack-minded player, was introduced by Celtic coach John Maduka as the visitors looked to pull one back.
The away side pushed forward in numbers and they managed to pull one back when Menzi Masuku beat Leeuwenburgh with a decent finish to make it 3-2 in the 69th minute.
However, Celtic were left vulnerable at the back every time they pushed forward and they were punished by Nodada in the closing stages of the match.
The new Bafana Bafana international grabbed a brace when he scored with a header with 12 minutes left to seal City’s 4-2 victory over Celtic on the day.
