The City of Johannesburg, in partnership with the Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA), invites residents and stakeholders to provide feedback on the draft Main Reef Roodepoort Urban Development Framework (UDF).
The UDF outlines a strategic vision for sustainable human settlement development in the region. Once approved by the City Council, it will serve as an official policy to guide future growth and planning.
The framework focuses on areas including Matholesville Township, Matholesville Informal Settlement, Sol Plaatjies Township and Informal Settlement, Wilfordan, Goudrand Township, and surrounding informal settlements.
Objectives of the Framework
The Main Reef Roodepoort UDF aims to:
- Create a comprehensive development framework for the precinct.
- Support sustainable human settlement development.
- Coordinate cross-sector stakeholders for integrated planning.
- Link the framework to tangible social, economic, environmental, and infrastructure initiatives.
- Provide data and strategies to inform the City’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP).
