South African Breweries and the South African Football Association have kicked-off the 2018 edition of the SAB League Skills Camp – an intense training programme tailored to upskill local coaches to world-class standard.

Coaches from across 52 SAFA Regions undergo training at the High-Performance Centre in Pretoria, from the 12-16 February 2018.

As sponsors of the country’s largest grassroots football development league and South Africa’s most trusted football talent hub, SAB aims to provide coaches with invaluable skills to identify and develop the country’s future stars, as well as equip them with highly sought-after SAFA D-license accreditation.

AB-InBev Corporate Affairs Director, Nirishi Trikamjee, highlighted the brand’s unwavering commitment to the development of football, through this week-long coaching course.

“SAB’s ongoing sponsorship of the SAB League has ensured that the standard of football is well developed from grassroots and elevated to greater heights. In order to establish a progressive development league, our approach to football focuses on the holistic development of not just coaches but players, match officials and administrators in the league,” said Trikamjee.

With the SAB League sponsorship spanning over a period of 17 years, SAB pioneered and continues to spearhead the largest grassroots development league in South Africa; touching the lives of over 30 000 players on a weekly basis.

“We are honoured to be in partnership with a brand as committed to football development as the South African Breweries. The SAB League’s structure aligns with SAFA’s 2022 vision as it advances the sport from various angles. Through the diverse Skills Camps, we have seen the development of efficient administrators, competent
match officials, knowledgeable coaches and skilful players.

We appreciate SAB’s efforts in progressing football and we are looking forward to working with them as we advance the beautiful game even further,” said SAFA Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Dennis Mumble.
