The South African Football Association (SAFA) is saddened by the passing of England football legend Sir Bobby Charlton.
His family announced that the Manchester United great and England World Cup winner died peacefully in the early hours of Saturday surrounded by his loved ones.
SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan said football is poorer following the death of Charlton.
“We as SAFA offer our deepest condolences and join in mourning the loss of Sir Bobby Charlton. He has demonstrated his love, passion and contribution to football, both on the field of play and as an administrator,” said Dr Jordaan.
“Our sincerest condolences to Sir Bobby Charlton’s family and the English FA. This is a huge loss and we are saddened by his passing. May his soul rest in peace.”
