Sasol

The dominance of Cape Town Roses and UWC Ladies in the Sasol League continued in the Western Cape province during this past weekend’s action.

Roses’ undefeated run continues unabated after they registered a convincing 3-0 win against Spurs Ladies at NY49 on Sunday (11 June 2017) afternoon, but the UWC Ladies are breathing down their necks following an impressive 8-0 victory over Portia Ladies 8-0.

UWC is in second place, tied on 27 points with the log leaders, Roses who have a better goal difference.

KwaZulu-Natal log leaders, Lindelani Ladies suffered a surprise 5-0 defeat to Sunflower FC at the Mpumalanga Regional Stadium. The struggle continued for former KZN giants, Durban Ladies as they could only manage a 2-all draw away to mid-table side Umlazi Ladies. The match was played at the F Sports Field in Umlazi on Sunday afternoon.

The biggest winners on the weekend came from the Northern Cape as the fight for top spot intensifies. Kurara Ladies moved to the top of the standings in Stream A following a 3-0 win away to R.C. Mills Ladies, who were in leading the log table heading into this fixture. In stream B, the dominance of Richmond United Ladies was sustained with a well-deserved 4 -0 victory over Galeshewe Ladies at the Richmond Showground.

In Gauteng, Palace Super Falcon increased their chances of a top finish with a 2-0 win over Croesus Ladies to increase their lead at the top to 33 points, four ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns who are in second place after a 3-1 win over Soweto Fabulous FC.

Masandawana are on 29 points.

In other results from Gauteng, fourth-placed JVW were made to work for their three points in a hard-fought 3-2 win away to the University of Johannesburg, and TUT-PTA won the Pretoria derby with the 5-1 thrashing of H. Zebra Force at the TUT PTA West Campus.
