SHABALALA WANTS MORE GOALS

Having broken his goal scoring duck for the season by netting a sublime winner against SuperSport United on Saturday, Mduduzi Shabalala’s appetite for goals has only increased, as Amakhosi look to close out the season with a flourish.

“It’s a great feeling. because I have been desperately wanting to score goals to help the team. It has really boosted my confidence and increased my hunger to score more goals,” he tells www.kaizerchiefs.com, amid Amakhosi’s preparation for the visit of Mamelodi Sundowns for a DStv Premiership blockbuster at FNB stadium on Thursday evening.

After seeing off TS Galaxy on Monday, The Brazilians only need three more points to clinch a seventh successive league championship, a feat that Chiefs will be determined to prevent from being achieved against them in their own backyard.

“It’s always a tough match. Everybody knows that they are log leaders at the moment, but it’s really all about us. We are going to have to execute our game-plan, and when we get opportunities, we have to be clinical. We want to stop them from winning the league in ‘our house’,” the 20-year-old states defiantly, before shifting the emphasis towards what his own team can achieve as opposed to who else they can try to stop.

“In the last five games this season we are still looking to qualify for a CAF spot,” he says, “Our aim is to get back to where we belong as Kaizer Chiefs, at the top.”

A large turnout on Thursday in support of the Glamour Boys will go a long way to inspiring the team to ‘pour water’ on the opponents’ festivities and postpone their celebrations for at least one more round of matches.

“I would love to see a lot of our fans come out to support us for this big game on Thursday,” Shabalala implores, “It helps us a lot when they are giving us encouragement. They want the best for us and we want to make them happy and proud of us.”

The mouthwatering clash kicks off at 19:30.

Tickets for the game are on sale through TicketPro online at www.ticketpros.co.za or Spar and Boxer Supermarkets, PostNet, Shell and Sasol filling stations at R60 per ticket.
