SHALULILE BRACE LEADS HIGHLANDS TO VICTORY AGAINST BAROKA

  • 22 SEP 2019

Peter Shalulile scored a second half brace for Highlands Park in a 2-1 Absa Premiership win over Baroka FC at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday afternoon.

The Namibia international continued his superb start to the season, finding the back of the net on two occasions within 10 minutes before Collins Makgaka scored what proved to be a mere consolation goal for the hosts.

Victory moves the Lions of the North up to eighth place on the log standings, a place above Bakgaga with both teams level on eight points.

Following a goalless first half, Shalulile opened the scoring in the 64th minute after racing through on goal to score his fourth league goal of the season.

The forward doubled his team’s advantage 10 minutes later, nodding home a cross from Lindokuhle Mbatha to set the MTN8 finalists on course for victory in the Limpopo province.

Bakgaga, though, pulled a goal back in the 77th minute through Makgaka who curled a precise free-kick past the outstretched Thela Ngobeni in the Highlands goal.

Lions of the North’s Ricardo Williams received his marching orders in second half stoppage-time for time wasting, but his absence had no outcome on the result as the visitors continued their dominance over Baroka.
