SHALULILE SCORES AGAIN TO DENY POLOKWANE

Peter Shalulile moved to the top of the Absa Premiership scoring charts as Highlands Park came from behind to draw 1-1 with Polokwane City at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday.

The Namibian forward has now scored 14 goals this season, the same amount as Orlando Pirates’ Gabadinho Mhango. The result moves the Lions of the North up to seventh on the log standings. Rise and Shine jump above AmaZulu and into 15th spot on goals scored.

Following a first half marred by ill-discipline from both sets of players, the game finally sparked into life following the break.

Polokwane hit the front in the 65th minute thanks to an own goal from Limbikani Mzava. Mpho Mvelase curled a cross into a dangerous area and was duly rewarded as the Highlands defender guided the ball into his own net.

The visitors hit back through that man Shalulile nine minutes later. The Highlands marksmen rose highest from a corner-kick to continue his scoring spree in South Africa’s top-flight.

Shalulile came close to completing his brace in the 78th minute, but George Chigova pulled off a superb save to deny the Tembisa-based club as the two teams ultimately settled for a point apiece.
