Under the floodlights at home this evening, two Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will be hoping to collect maximum points when they lock horns with their opponents in a Betway Premiership clashes following their return from TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup second round preliminary phase clash and CAF Champions League respectively.
Amakhosi held AS Simba to a goalless draw in Lubumbashi, while Buccaneers were thrashed 3-0 by the Congolese outfit Saint –Eloi Lupopo in the opening leg of their Second Round clash at Stade Kibassa Maliba last Sunday.
Chiefs will be facing Siwelele FC who are lying 14th on the log table at FNB Stadium , while Pirates will be playing the unpredictable Polokwane City who are sixth on the log at their Fortress, Orlando Stadium this evening. Both games kick off at 19:30.
As things stand, the Glamour Boys are lying fourth on the Betway Premiership Log, while Bucs are third and both teams have accumulated 15 points.
If both teams win today their log position standing will not change because second placed Sekhukhune United is already on 20 points. A draw for both teams will also not be a desirable result.
Kaizer Chiefs coach, Cedric Kaze told a packed media he wished fans can fill up the FNB stadium tonight.
“ They didnt start well beginning of the season, but the last two games looks like they are getting better. It’s a team that defends very well. But I am pretty sure we are ready to unlock the opponents.”
Meanwhile Chiefs forward, Khanyiso Mayo told journalists, the spirit and mood in the camp is great because they motivate and encourage each other. We take each game at a time in order to get positive results.”
Amakhosi’s attacking Midfielder, Pule Modi echoed the same sentiment and said, the feeling and spirit in the camp is good so far.
“We are going to give all our best to win the game.”
