THE INAUGURAL GOALS FORUM AND SWING FOR GOALS GOLF DAY CATALYSE NATIONAL DIALOGUE ON SDGs AND FINANCIAL TRANSFORMATION

The inaugural Goals Forum and Swing for Goals event, held on 22 May at the Serengeti Golf & Wildlife Estate, was a resounding success — setting a bold new benchmark for strategic dialogue and cross-sector collaboration in South Africa.

The Goals Forum was held under the timely theme “Navigating Change – Dialogue on Unity, Geopolitics, and Economic Futures and Transformation.” This thought-provoking event brought together senior government officials, industry leaders, and development champions. They explored how the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can accelerate financial transformation and build resilience in a rapidly evolving global and local landscape.

Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Kenny Morolong, delivered a powerful keynote address, unpacking fiscal policy, transformation strategies, and the growing economic role of small businesses.

Running in parallel was the Puttnership Swing for Goals Golf Day which reimagined the traditional golf day with a focus on purpose. Under the theme: “Driving Development Through Collaboration – One Hole, One Goal”, each hole represented a specific SDG, creating an immersive and action-oriented experience for participants. This resulted in a dynamic blend of reflection and recreation. Players connected, innovated, and committed to making tangible impacts.

“This is only the beginning,” said Puttnership CEO Itumeleng Oliphant. “We’ve built a platform that bridges conversation and execution and we’re just getting started.”

This landmark event marks the first in a national series of SDG-aligned engagements designed to shape South Africa’s path toward inclusive, sustainable economic transformation.
