Coach Eric Tinkler has left Cape Town City only a year into his three-year contract “by his choice”, the Mother City club announced on Thursday.According to the club, Tinkler, left through a buyout, meaning he paid the club to leave.

No further reasons for the breakup were provided but Tinkler is expected to be unveiled at another Absa Premiership club on Thursday.

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder had a stellar season in the Mother City where he led to them to a third place finish in the Premiership race.

He also led the club to a Telkom Knockout victory against SuperSport United.

That was a remarkable feat given that it was only their first season in top-flight football after buying the status of Black Aces.
