VILLA MARSEILLE THE SURPRISE PACKAGE OF 2019 DISCOVERY WALTER SISULU SOCCER CHALLENGE

Having won four of their five games so far, they are proving to be dark horses of the tournament.

Marseille’s 2-0 win over Pimville Cameroon on Day 17 at the Nike Training Centre in Soweto; Klipspruit Pimville was their fourth consecutive victory and meant that they only need three points from their two remaining games to book a place in the last 16.

Marseille are yet to suffer a defeat in the tournament and sit pretty on top of Group D with 13 points while it is no surprise no see 2018 defending champions Sneke Chillers, La-Masia, 2017 Champions, Premier Impala, Dube Continental and Strokes FC doing well and occupying position one and two in their respective Groups.

Few would have expected the name of Marseille to be right up there but with players such as former Orlando Pirates duo in Sifiso Myeni and Rooi Mahamutsa, they mean business and have been playing football that’s pleasing to the eye.

Coach and owner of Villa Marseille Tebogo ‘Mosquito’ Mosii said, “There are more surprises coming, I don’t want to scare away other teams but we are now the targets. Sifiso Myeni and Rooi Mahamutsa are my friends and I called them to come help out. “

Marseille surprised many when they hammered Amazambia 3-0 and narrowly beat crowds’ favourites Mamba FC 1-0 on Day 12 and 13 respectively. In their second game they won 2-0 against River Park and only dropped points in their first game against Meadowlands All Stars which ended in a one all draw.

In the 15th edition of the tournament, Marseille failed to qualify for the knockout rounds and this year they are just one win away.

“The mentality of my players is positive, if things go well, I can guarantee you that we are going to win the tournament. Everyone is talking about us, “said Marseille coach Mosii.

The coach went on to say that they are not all about showboating but direct football as they are always looking to score and win games.

White City Spurs in Group E are the only teams to have booked a spot in the knockout rounds with a game to spare while another surprise package in OPS Shinning Stars are in second position on 12 points.

A win for Marseille on Friday against Giyani All Stars will see them qualify for the knockout stage for the first time.
