WE ALWAYS WANT TO ASSOCIATE OURSELVES WITH BIG TROPHIES-RONWEN WILLIAMS

Mamelodi Sundowns are gearing up to compete in their first ever Carling Black Label Cup on Saturday at the FNB Stadium. The Brazilians look forward to fighting for a spot in the final match as they prepare to go head-to-head with AmaZulu for the first game of the day. “We are looking forward to the Carling Black Label Cup as first-time participants. Looking at the trophy now, I know the entire team wants our name to be added onto it because we are a big team [and] we always want to associate ourselves with big trophies”, said Masandawana goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.

The Bafana Bafana goalie also shared his thoughts on the competition, mentioning that the team wants to win all the trophies within their reach, and they work hard to ensure that all of that is fulfilled. He communicated that the team intends on lifting the trophy for the first time on Saturday. When asked about their first game taking place in the morning and whether the team will be affected by the ‘unusual’ time of the game, he responded and said.

“The time difference will not be a problem because we are professionals and we’ve played games that kick off at night and in the morning. What needs to happen is for us to do the job and I guess we must sleep earlier the night before to be fresh for the morning clash.”

Williams shared that the team has to adapt to the way things are done in the competition and always remember the assignment of the day, as well as the objective. The Brazilian added that he is privileged to be a part of Mamelodi Sundowns because their vision matches his and the rest of the team strives to work together to uphold the reputable honor of the club.

Bafana Ba Style are prepared for all the action of the day and feel that having their first game early in the morning will not disrupt their desire to lift the Black Label Cup. Williams mentioned that the team is not underestimating AmaZulu which is why they are prepared to fight and concluded by mentioning that he is confident that the team will do their best to make the Yellow Nation proud and the team looks forward to bringing the trophy to Chloorkop as a new addition to their trophy cabinet.

The Brazilian anticipated the competition, as well as winning the trophy on their first time participating in the Carling Cup. The team intends to close off Saturday on a positive note and go into the festive break with a historic win. Mamelodi Sundowns will face AmaZulu FC at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, kick off is at 09h00 live on Supersport.
