The South African Ambassador in Denmark, Fikile Magubane, paid African champions Banyana Banyana a visit ahead of their first-ever international match against ‘The Red and White’ of Denmark at the Aalborg Stadium in Denmark tonight.
Ambassador Magubane was welcomed by SAFA Vice President Natasha Tshiclas and Head of Delegation Ms Thabile Msomi, and she addressed coach Dr Desiree Ellis and her players ahead of what promised to be a thrilling match.
“We are honoured to have you here and very excited that we will witness the African Champions playing live this evening. We as the Mission here in Denmark are very proud of all your achievements and believe that you will represent South Africa with pride against the Danish,” said Ambassador Magubane.
“We wish you all the best and want you to always remember that each and every one of you are Team South Africa and greatness lives within you.”
Head Coach Dr Ellis has also named the Sasol-sponsored South African senior women’s national team’s lineup for this evening’s clash. The match between Denmark and Banyana Banyana will be broadcast live on SABC Sport at 6pm.
They will then travel to Coventry to prepare for their second international friendly match on the Tour of Europe against England on Tuesday, 29 October 2024.
