SCORES OF RATEPAYERS TO TURN-UP FOR #BILLINGOPENDAY

The City of Johannesburg has put contingency measures in place to accommodate the scores of ratepayers expected to flock to Marks Park on Saturday, 12 August for the much anticipated Billing Open Day.

The City is hosting a Billing Open Day in Emmarentia, Region B to enable ratepayers in the area to resolve lingering billing issues. Similar initiatives will be held in all regions of the Metro in upcoming months, as the City accelerates the resolution of incorrect municipal accounts on its SAP system.

Given that there’s a backlog in the resolution of incorrect municipal accounts, the metro expects scores of customers to attend the Billing Open Day in a bid to have lingering billing issues rectified.

The City’s Portfolio Head of Finance, Dr Rabelani Dagada says the municipality is excited that ratepayers have responded positively to the Billing Open Day. MMC Dagada says the City has put in place a queue management system to ensure customers are assisted promptly.

“We’re putting a queue management system in place to ensure customers don’t wait in queues for hours on end. Ratepayers will be given updates on how long it would take for them to be assisted on location,” explains MMC Dagada, adding that ratepayers should be patient as no one will be turned away.

All corporate account holders and ratepayers in Region B, which encompasses Randburg, Cresta, Rosebank, Emmerentia, Westcliff and surrounding suburbs who are 60 days or more in arrears or have a query on their account should attend this Billing Open Day.

“We urge ratepayers in Region B to allow this new administration the opportunity to resolve their outstanding billing queries as well as help to reduce their debt with the municipality,” says MMC Dagada.

The City believes remedying the billing crisis will enable the municipality to collect more revenue, which will increase the City’s expenditure on infrastructure projects and help the metro deliver quality basic services, which stimulate investment and job creation.

Dagada notes that the City is dedicated to fixing the billing crisis in a caring and responsive manner.
