GOLDEN ARROWS CONCEDE STOPPAGE-TIME EQUALISER TO DRAW 1-1 WITH GALAXY

TS Galaxy and Golden Arrows played to a 1-1 draw in a 2020-21 DStv Premiership clash at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Shaune Mogaila scored a stoppage-time equaliser for the hosts following Pule Mmodi’s opener in the second-half. The result moves Abafana Bes’thende up to sixth while the Rockets remain in eighth spot – both teams are yet to lose a game after five rounds of fixtures.

Galaxy dominated the early exchanges with Sifiso Mlungwana forced into a good save at his near post to keep out Karabo Tshepe’s powerful drive in the 25th minute.

The hosts conjured a further chance through Lindokuhle Mbatha after the interval but they were again denied by Mlungwana and Arrows duly opened the scoring after weathering the Rockets storm.

Mmodi pounced on a mistake from Galaxy to break the deadlock in the 72nd minute. A back pass by Gerald Modisane caused confusion in the Rockets defence and the Arrows forward was alert to intercept the ball and pass it into the back of the net.

Galaxy threw bodies forward in the closing stages of the match and got their just reward as Mogaila levelled matters in the dying moments of the game, as the two teams shared the spoils on the day.
