SEKHUKHUNE UNITED SOAR TO TOP WITH BIG WIN

Sekhukhune United are the early leaders in the 2020-21 GladAfrica Championship after a resounding 4-0 home win over Royal AM in one of three matches on Saturday 28 November.

Sekhukhune lead on goal difference in the midst of the first round of the new season, with strikes from Chibuike Ohizu (two), Katlego Cwinyane and Thulane Ndlela seeing them completely overpower their opponents at Makhulong Stadium.

Elsewhere on the same day, Uthongathi FC edged Free State Stars 1-0 at Goble Park Stadium thanks to a goal from Issa Sarr, while a thriller at the Kabokweni Stadium saw Cape Umoya United claim a 3-2 win over hosts TS Sporting.

Edson Khumalo, Roscoe Pietersen and Sekela Sithole netted for the Cape side, while TSS had Khotso Malope and Percyvell Nkabinde find the back of the night, and Mbonisi Chagi was sent off late on.

Friday’s season openers saw Cape Town Spurs and Cape Town All Stars both held to 1-1 home draws. Spurs – formerly Ajax Cape Town – opened the scoring at the Cape Town Stadium against relegated Polokwane City through Riyaad Norodien, but were quickly pegged back by an equaliser from Mpho Mvelase.

At Parow Park, All Stars found themselves a goal down against visitors JDR Stars, who netted through Temptation Chiwunga in the 75th minute, before Lucky Setelele levelled 10 minutes before fulltime for the hosts.

The weekend’s GladAfrica Championship action wraps up on Sunday 29 November with Pretoria University hosting Richards Bay at the Tuks Stadium.
