The South African Football Association (SAFA) has appointed Errol Madlala as the new Commercial and Marketing Manager.

Madlala has an almost 20-year professional track record of delivering first-to-market and unconventional branding building experiences based on relevant, meaningful cultural and consumer insights that create new market opportunities.

He has experience in major sponsorship procurements, negotiations and commercial management of sponsorships within different sporting codes. His formal qualifications include a Management Development Programme from SAB and UCT.

He has held roles such as Brand and Sponsorship Manager at SAB Ltd, head of Sponsorship at SABMiller Africa, Sponsorship consultant for Pitch Management, as well as Acting Chief Commercial Officer at Cricket South Africa, among others.

Furthermore, Madlala has extensive experience in multimedia marketing, production, brand sponsorship strategy and execution at regional and national levels within the FMCG, sports and entertainment industry. He is no stranger to the Association as he has also been managing the SAFA Gaming platform on the FIFA game franchise, and also has served as a sponsorship consultant.

“Errol brings with him a wealth of experience and he will be a great asset to the South African Football Association. Welcome to SAFA House,” said SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao.

“I am humbled to join the South African Football Association having worked with them on and off from a sponsor to consultant, and now with the responsibility of enhancing the commercialisation as well as marketing efforts of this giant in the South African sports landscape. I hope to use all the experience I have gained in the last two decades to shape how fans and brands connect in the development of the football ecosystem. I am under no illusion of the work ahead, but I am up to the task,” Madlala said.
