Finance and Economic Development MEC, Lebogang Maile is expected to present Gauteng’s 2024 Medium Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) and the Adjustment Budget to the Legislature this morning.
This year’s MTBPS comes at the start of 7th Administration Term of office.
According to the department, MEC Maile will use the mini ‘budget ‘ to set the tone, outline the priorities of the Gauteng government and how public funds will be used to strengthen the economic growth, create jobs and boost the focus over the medium term .

Maile is a former president of the Congress of South African Students and chaired the Gauteng branch of the ANC Youth League from 2010 to 2013.
In subsequent years he held the portfolios of MEC for Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation from November 2010 to May 2014; MEC for Economic Development from May 2014 to May 2019; and MEC for Human Settlements, Urban Planning and Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs from May 2019 until October 2022, when he was appointed MEC for Human Settlements and Infrastructure Development.
In July 2024, he became the MEC for Finance and Economic Development.
