FLASH AND FNB PARTNER TO TRANSFORM SPEEDPOINT DEVICES INTO PROFIT-BOOSTING BUSINESS TOOLS FOR SMEs

Flash, a leading South African fintech company dedicated to empowering small and medium-sized merchants, is proud to announce a strategic partnership with FNB. This collaboration will enable FNB merchants across South Africa to offer a comprehensive suite of value-added services (VAS) directly from their existing FNB Speedpoint® devices, at no additional cost.

Through the Flash app, merchants can now sell a wide range of products and financial services; prepaid airtime, data, electricity, gaming, entertainment and lifestyle vouchers, accept accounts payments, offer/facilitate social grants collections, cash-outs and much more — all while continuing to accept payments on the same device.

“Our goal is to deliver more than just payment solutions, we’re delivering meaningful value,” says Netsai Ngidi, Head of Product and Solutions at FNB Merchant Services. “This partnership with Flash gives our customers the ability to do more with one device. It’s about empowering our SMEs and any merchants in the FMCG, retail, fuel/ forecourts and general goods and services with tools that offer simplicity, reliability and income-generating potential — all in one trusted solution.”

Currently, SMEs make up over 30% of FNB’s merchant base, with around 25% of these businesses processing annual turnovers of between R0 and R1 million. This solution provides businesses with an easy and cost-effective way to scale, grow, and better serve their communities.

“This partnership with FNB perfectly aligns with everything we believe in at Flash,” says Francois van Eck, Head of Retail at Flash. “Our core purpose is to empower small businesses and make their lives easier by providing them with the tools and services they need to thrive. By integrating our extensive range of value-added services onto FNB’s Speedpoint® devices, we’re not just offering a new feature; we’re unlocking significant growth potential for thousands of merchants. It’s about giving them more ways to earn commission, increase foot traffic, and truly become vital hubs of convenience for their communities.”

Merchants will earn commission on every VAS transaction, boosting their profitability while enhancing operational efficiency through safe and instant cashless payments to suppliers. The solution is particularly aimed at enabling our merchants to attract more customers, expand their revenue streams and servicing their communities.

Activating the Flash VAS solution on FNB Speedpoint® devices is simple. Merchants can register directly on their devices. The Flash App has been rolled out to over 20 000 merchants and full roll-out to the entire FNB merchant base will be completed by end of August.

This collaboration between Flash and FNB signifies more than just a technological update; it’s a commitment to merchant empowerment, offering a comprehensive and integrated platform for convenience, income generation, and sustainable business growth.
