ADIDAS SOUTH AFRICA LAUNCHES OFFICIAL 2026 SANLAM CAPE TOWN MARATHON COLLECTION AHEAD OF RACE DAY

With just weeks to go until the 2026 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, adidas has unveiled the official race merchandise collection, celebrating Africa’s biggest marathon as it continues its journey toward Abbott World Marathon Major status.

The collection celebrates the energy, culture, and ambition of the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, designed for runners chasing personal bests, first-time finishers preparing for race day, and supporters wanting to be part of one of the continent’s most iconic sporting moments. The striking colours of the range – Dusky Petrol and Lucid Aquamarine – pay homage to the races’ unique Cape identity, complemented by golden accents, which hint at its pioneering aspiration.

The official collection features the latest performance and supporter apparel, featuring the technical race jacket, training Tee, caps, visors, alongside one of adidas’ most celebrated shoes, the adizero Boston 13. The Boston 13, with its Lightstrike Pro midsole and energy rod system, will now feature a uniquely African print design.  The range combines performance innovation with bold marathon-inspired design elements synonymous with Cape Town’s vibrant running culture.

The collection is now available online and at selected adidas stores nationwide.

This race is unique as it is distinctly African symbol of community, culture, and world-class running,” said Tom Brown, Senior Brand Director at adidas South Africa. “This collection allows runners and supporters alike to celebrate this special moment  as Cape Town continues its push toward becoming Africa’s first Abbott World Marathon Major.”

adidas Brings Marathon Energy to the V&A Waterfront

To build excitement ahead of race weekend, adidas will also host a unique marathon activation experience at the V&A Waterfront from 16 – 24 May, located at the historic Union Castle Building square.

The pop-up and activation hub will sell the official Sanlam Cape Town Marathon merchandise (while stock lasts) and serve as a meeting point for the running community, featuring a packed line-up of daily experiences and activities designed to bring runners together in the lead-up to the marathon. Visitors can expect:

  • Saturday 16: AR Long Run & Coffee Rave from 06h30–09h30, with customization available from 09h00–19h00
  • Sunday 17: Runners’ recovery session from 09h00–10h30, with customization available from 09h00–19h00
  • Monday 18: AR Easy Run from 18h00–19h30
  • Tuesday 19: DHL Stormers Signing Session 15h00-17h00
  • Wednesday 20: AR Taper Run from 18h00–19h30
  • Friday 22: Pre-race hair & nails from 15h00–20h00, followed by the AR Shakeout Run from 17h00–20h00
  • Saturday 23: Pre-race hair & nails from 09h00–14h00
  • Sunday 24: Bring your medal and receive free medal engraving 09h00 -19h00

The activation aims to celebrate the spirit of the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon while creating an immersive destination for both local and international runners visiting Cape Town ahead of race day.

Open daily, the activation brings the energy of the marathon to life, giving fans the chance to tap into race-day atmosphere and secure official 2026 race merchandise ahead of race weekend.
