Orlando Pirates coach Kjell Jonevret said he was looking forward to the Nedbank Cup final, his first final since joining the club as head coach at the beginning of the year. The Bucs mentor, who celebrates his birthday four days after the final, has been working hard with the team over the last two weeks in preparation for the match against SuperSport United.
“We have been working very hard with the team. This is a final and we know very well that, it’s not current form or league position which will determine who wins on Saturday but rather who does all the right things on match day.
“Finals are very tricky because sometimes it only takes one chance or one mistake to determine the winner. Our plan is to ensure that we prepare thoroughly enough to give ourselves the best chance of winning on the night,” said the Pirates coach in an interview with the club’s official website.
Meanwhile, the Bucs medical team has reported a clean bill of health siting only the likes of Thembinkosi Lorch as the obvious absentees as he continues to recover on his shoulder injury.
The Mighty Buccaneers played two friendly matches last week and apart from the common knock, no player suffered any significant injuries which means that Jonevret has a wide list of players to choose from for this final.
The match kicks off at 20h15 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
