Banyana Banyana diary

4 April 2019 – The South African Football Association in partnership with FIFA and EThekwini Municipality have arranged a series of events for Banyana Banyana ahead of their first ever appearance at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France which will run from 7 June 2019 –7 July 2019.

The organised events for Banyana Banyana will take place on 6-7 April 2019 in Durban.

The South African Senior Women’s National Team will face Jamaica on Sunday, 7 April 2019 in their farewell friendly match (Kick-off 15h00) at Moses Mabhiba Stadium, as they continue with their 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup preparations.

EThekwini Municipality will kick off the host of events for the Sasol-sposnored Banyana Banyana with a Mayoral Reception on Saturday night, 6 March 2019. The reception will be attended by both Banyana Banyana and visiting Jamaican side and will take place at uShaka Marine Cargo Hold at 18h30.

The following day on Sunday, 7 March 2019 will be another hive of activity; beginning with the press conference of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy Tour which will take place at Southern Sun Maharani Hotel at 10h00.
The public will then move to People’s Park for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy display.

FIFA will then conduct a Girls Barefoot Football program at Moses Mabhida Stadium for girls between the ages of 6-10 as part of their football development initiative at 12h30.

The South African Senior Women’s National Team will then host Jamaica at 15h00 in their farewell friendly match, before heading to the United States of America in May to continue their 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup preparations.
