With the teams’ draw completed, it’s now all set for the kickoff of the inaugural Gauteng Community Games Cup to be held on Saturday, 16 March 2024. The move will turn the UJ Stadium, Soweto Campus into an unprecedented battlefield when all the teams gunner for the first prize. This year’s edition will only feature Football and Netball.
Representing their regions(municipalities), it will be City against City and Kasi against Kasi. It will be the Masters (over 35); the Golden Oldies (over 60); and the Open category made up of younger ones, taking each other on.
Whilst the games are about the battle in the field, they are also about promoting talent identification; bringing people together; promoting healthy and active lifestyles; and addressing social ills through sport.
