Bafana Bafana coach Broos names 19-member squad for Uganda

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has named a 19-member squad to play the Ugandan Cranes in a friendly international match on 10 June. The match will be played at Orlando Stadium and kicks off at 18h00.

The match against the East Africans will be the first for Bafana Bafana since the final AFCON qualifying match against Sudan in Khartoum on 29 March which South Africa lost 2-0.

The friendly match with Uganda is part of Bafana Bafana’s preparations for the upcoming Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. South Africa are in Group G, together with Ghana, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia.

Bafana Bafana commence their campaign away to Zimbabwe before welcoming arch-rivals Ghana at home.

True to his promise when he was unveiled as Bafana Bafana coach, Broos has named a squad comprising mainly of up-and-coming players to play Uganda.

The coach who won the AFCON title with Cameroon said his immediate aim was to build a squad which would compete for things in coming years.
