BAFANA TO FACE DR CONGO

Flashback!! Just few days ago Bafana Bafana failed to break the wall of the resolute strong-willed Namibian national team in an international friendly match played at Orlando Stadium in front of a poor crowd.

The match ended in a goalless draw despite Bafana controlling the match in the better part of the proceedings. Post match, Bafana coach Hugo Broos described the match as a very interesting game.

“We had many chances. I am happy with what I saw today more especially because we didn’t lose the game. We will review the match with the technical team.”

Broos also revealed the line up was an experimental team where he fielded fringe players.

Fastfoward!!! Bafana Bafana will be locking horns with DR Congo in another international friendly match at Orlando Stadium this afternoon.

“Another match another opponent who plays another style, said Broos.

Bafana Bafana were held to a goalless draw by Namibia during a international friendly match played at Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Coach Hugo Broos gave opportunities to a lot of players to stake their claim in the team, but the Namibians remained resolute and managed to keep the home team at bay.

Goalkeeper Lloyd Kazapua was an important player for the visitors and made numerous saves during the match to deny Bafana Bafana, largely contributing to the share of the spoils.

The visitors also had their moments and occasionally threatened Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Veli Mothwa and his rearguard. But in the end the two sides had to settle for the draw, a result that did not bother Bafana coach Broos very much.

“We said before the match we would give chances to new players to prove themselves, to show what they can do and that was the most important goal today. The result was secondary,” said Broos, adding that his players created a lot of chances but could not make them count.

Bafana Bafana return to Orlando Stadium on Tuesday (12 September 2023) where they will face DR Congo in another international friendly match.

Grant Magreman walked away with the man of the match award and it remains to be seen if he did enough to keep his place in the team for Tuesday’s match.
