BRUTAL FRUIT SPRITZER’S SHE-BEEN: A PERFECT LADIES NIGHT-OUT VENUE IN SOWETO

The newly launched Brutal Fruit Spritzer SheBeen is worth all the rave it has been getting and more, since it opened doors last week Wednesday.

SheBeen is South Africa’s first-ever women-only venue where women can come and celebrate one another for the entire month of August through good music, a tailor-made menu, as well as enjoy good company in a space where they can feel special.

SheBeen, with a special emphasis on the “SHE” – because it’s a place for SHE to BE inspired, celebrated and truly Belong – was launched for National Woman’s Month as a celebration of women across the nation, according to Candice van den Bosch, Acting Head of Brand at Brutal Fruit Spritzer.

“Brutal Fruit Spritzer is a brand that is driven by the idea of saying to women “You Belong”, we wanted to bring that to life as we have seen through social media listening and Brand Watch research  conducted  from 2020 to 2022, that there was a common thread in conversations and stories of women expressing the desire for women only spaces or experiences where they could go out and just be free to express themselves unapologetically. So, as a brand that is driven by You Belong, we saw that we can address the insight and so this is a physical manifestation of women’s desires, a place where She Belongs.”

The iconic RockerFella tavern in Molapo, Soweto was given a facelift with pink tiles, floral roof, designer furniture, mirrored walls with words of affirmations and a vanity bathroom to celebrate women for the duration of women’s month.

Speaking at the Brutal Fruit Spritzer SheBeen opening night, the popular DJ Zinhle expressed: “I want my lounge to look like this. You know my love for décor. The interior looks like they went all out for women, and it simply looks amazing.”

“Brutal Fruit Spritzer said that they want to do something which is comfortable for ladies, my brand is always centred around women and women empowerment, so it just resonated with me, this is something very special for women and I feel like it is amazing, and it needs to be done often and not just on Woman’s Month. I feel like we should ask Brutal Fruit nicely if we can continue permanently.” DJ Zinhle further added.

Media personality and the host for the opening night of SheBeen, Candice Modiselle remarked: “What an extraordinary place. I think that when people think SheBeen, they have a preconceived idea, but this completely turned it on its head and made us not to only look at the concept differently but reminded us to celebrate one another unapologetically and remind us that we are better in numbers, as a collective, looking good and enjoying each other’s company.”

The menu boasts, especially made Brutal Fruit Spritzer infused cocktails including Soft Girl Era, She Been A Queen, Don’t Call Your Ex, iMama Must Have Fun and Princess Treatment.

Mandlakazi Phanjwa, who conceptualised the food menu said: “Most of the dishes that will be offered at each SheBeen experience are created to offer the wonderful women a wide variety of food that is simple, authentic, diverse, but elegantly presented. The mood and the energy in the kitchen is so different. Having such beautiful and vibrant women around us is really being a part of or even witnessing history in the making. It shows  us that women, if we collaborated and did things together, we can achieve a lot.”

Brutal Fruit Spritzer SheBeen opens every Thursday to Sunday from 12:00pm till late, to offer curated occasions that inspire creativity, confidence and joy. For bigger group reservation contact Lerato Maphosa Mopeloa on  066 217 8602 or @rockerfellasoweto on Instagram.
