Under the banner # NO EXCUSE,RENEWALL, Re-new, Re-commit and Re-bel, Carling Blacklabel recently committed its 100% support to fight Gender Based Violence  (GBV).

Recently at Sam’s Tavern activation in Alexandra, Black Label Brand Director, Arne Rust, told this publication his brand was speaking directly to men.

“We are trying to motivate men to be better men through education so that the scourge of GBV can go away.

“It’s a mission possible because statistics shows a 5% decrease. This simply means we are winning the battle even though the problem is still real in our society.”

Rust also argued that patriarchy was not the real cause of GBV.

“The real cause is wounded masculinity. When externalized it comes as violence or suicide.”

Craig Wilkinson , CEO of Father A Nation, echoed the same sentiment arguing little progress is visible in the  fight against GBV.

“We are working with #NO EXCUSE campaign by helping rolling it out in order to equip and train men to be good men. It’s a big bottle, but we are making progress.”

Wilkinson also acknowledged  there is still a lot of work to be done.

“It’s the role of the father to teach and socialize young men, But unfortunately most of them are lost. If we do everything right it will take us the upcoming two generations.”

The event was graced by Champion for Change and Footballer, Reneilwe Letsholonyane who also threw his weight against GBV.

“There is a great need to address GBV on our daily lives. We need to protect women to be in a good and safe space in our society,” He said.
