The Western Cape was the latest province to play host to the recently held SAFA D License Coaching course as a total of 45 aspiring coaches underwent the five-day programme held at the Italian Sports Club in Cape Town which was completed this past weekend.

The SAFA/CAF endorsed introductory coaching course forms part of the association’s strategic goal of Vision 2022 which outlines the increase of coaches at grassroots level as one of its key objectives.

Facilitated by Bafana Bafana legend, Thabo Mngomeni as well as highly qualified SAFA Coaching Instructor Ayyoob Gester, the course saw the coaches being introduced to the most recent and effective methods of coaching such as the theory of effective training, basic factors of performance and other fundamental aspects of coaching.

Speaking after the course, SAFA’s Head of Coaching Development, Frans Mogashoa expressed his full satisfaction on the course.

“We are quite excited about the enthusiasm and interest shown by the coaches this past weekend. These are the people that will be going back home to help identify and unearth the future of South African football. We hope that more aspiring coaches will take up these courses from SAFA and equip themselves to improve the standard of coaching at amateur level” said Mogashoa.
