Diski Shield

The Premier Soccer League, together with partners MultiChoice, have confirmed the dates for the opening fixtures of the inaugural MultiChoice Diski Shield.

The kick-off weekend of the Diski Shield has been penned for Saturday, 07 April 2018 – in just over two weeks’ time.

The Free State will play host to the opening festival at Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium in Botshabelo – around 50km from Bloemfontein. The festival in Free State will be held over two days.

The competition groups the 16 clubs into four regional pools: Central, Coastal West, Coastal East and Northern pool. Each pool consists of four clubs all vying for regional supremacy in a quest dubbed ‘Ubani Ibhoza Ngakini?’ which means ‘Who’s the boss in your hood?’

The first festival will feature clubs from the Coastal west and Central regions : Free State Stars, Cape Town City, Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits, Ajax Cape Town, Bloemfontein Celtic, Kaizer Chiefs and Platinum Stars.

On day one of the Diski Shield festival (07 April 2018) , Free State Stars will host Cape Town City at 10h00 while Orlando Pirates will play Bidvest Wits at 12h00.

On Sunday, another Free State outfit Bloemfontein Celtic will play Ajax Cape Town at 10h00. Later that day at 12h00 as the last match of the festival, Kaizer Chiefs will clash with Platinum Stars.

In the first round of the tournament, clubs will play each other once and the club with the most points at the end of the pool stages will progress to the semi-finals. This stage will be known as a ‘Clash of the Cities’ affair.

Ticket collection can be collected at the stadium from Thursday and Friday, 5 – 6 April 2018 from 13h00.
