A solitary goal from Kermit Erasmus handed Cape Town City a 1-0 win over SuperSport United at Loftus Versfeld in their final game of the Absa Premiership season on Saturday afternoon.

The win sees the side from Cape Town finish sixth on the table with 42 points, ahead of seventh placed Maritzburg only on goal difference. Moreover, the win sees City win the fourth quarter of the PSL and collect a cheque for R1.5 million.

The loss for SuperSport, on the other hand, had more consequence with the team from Tshwane finishing fifth on the table 52 points, two points behind fourth placed Bidvest Wits, and out of a CAF Confederation Cup spot.

The game itself, for the most part, was dominated by City but their decision making and finishing in front of goal really let them down.

Their one shining light was the clinical strike from Erasmus in the 52nd minute which handed City their 11th win of the season.

SuperSport were off their game on the day and no real threat in attack as they were unable to string a decent passing move together to create significant scoring chances.

In the end the side from the capital will be disappointed with the result and will turn their attention to preparation for the new season which begins in October.
