FINAL CARLING BLACK LABEL CUP TEAMS REVEALEAD

Following the launch of the revitalized Carling Black Label Cup, Champion fans were given more power, as they were tasked with deciding which four Premier Soccer League (PSL) teams they would like to participate in this year’s Cup game. After several weeks of voting and changes in votes, the final four teams were revealed on Monday, 03 October 2022.

The first phase of the campaign saw just under 1,5 million votes from fans all 16 PSL Team, that were verified by SNG Grant Thornton, The Soweto Giants led the votes, with Kaizer Chiefs at 490 376 votes while Orlando Pirates followed with 354 472 votes. Although Mamelodi Sundowns remained in the 3rd position from the onset, having secured 171 717 votes, 4th placed AmaZulu FC was inches away with 144 829 votes. Having led the votes for some time, the Dube Birds eventually missed the final spot by 32 571 votes as they scored themselves 112 258 votes.

Hailing from Tshwane and Ethekwini, both Masandawana and Usuthu bring a twist to the traditional Soweto Derby that fans of the Carling Black Label Cup have become accustomed to over the past decade. “We would like to send a Champion shout-out to the fans of all 16 PSL teams, as the participation in this year’s Cup has been great. We responded to the voices of all football fans, and they in turn responded with their support. We look forward to the next part of this exciting Champion Coach journey, where the fans will select their starting line-up and then the team Captain which we know has been a fan-favourite since it was introduced.” Said Carling Black Label Brand Director, Arne Rust.

A lucky fan of any of the 16 PSL teams, still stands the chance of winning a R100 000 cash prize for voting. To enter, football fans over the age of 18 can purchase a selected Carling Black Label beer and dial *120*660*unique code#; and select their starting line-up. Entry is 20c per 20 seconds on USSD and free for Vodacom users.

All matches will be played on Saturday, November 12 2022, at the FNB Stadium, starting with the first semi-final between Mamelodi Sundowns and Amazulu FC kicking off at 09h30, followed by Kaizer Chiefs vs Orlando Pirates at 12h00. Match day tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster or Computicket. One ticket will grant fans access to a full day of matches (please note no pass outs) and are available in three categories: Level 5 which sells for R80, Level 1 – R140, and Level 2 for R200. The FNB stadium also offers hospitality packages which are sold through SAIL at www.sail.co.za
