The stage has been set for a sold-out affair between two sides who sit first and third on the Betway Premiership tally. Set for Wednesday night at Loftus Versfeld, Mamelodi Sundowns will continue with their quest to defend the league title when they host Kaizer Chiefs.
All eyes will be on these two sides on Wednesday when they meet for the reverse fixture. The last meeting saw them share spoils after a 1-1 draw and the nation will wait to see what the second round meeting offers.
Masandwana come back from two crucial matches where they completed a back-to-back double on Polokwane City, earning six points. Speaking to defender, Grant Kekana, he stated that the two victories have boosted their morale.
“It was crucial for us to get back to back wins considering that had a draw before playing Polokwane City. So, the confidence is back up with the boys and obviously we want to finish strong. We are all in good spirits an we can’t wait for the next game,” he reflected.
Amakhosi, on the other hand, dropped points in their last outing when they lost to Siwelele FC. As he looked ahead of Wednesday’s fixture, Kekana said their rivals’ shortcomings are not going to be a factor when they prepare. Furthermore, he stated they have been doing well and admitted a clash against them will not be a walk in the park.
“It’s going to be a tough game. I think they have been doing well, especially in the second round of the season, to be in the position they are in. Despite them having lost their last game, we know how their form has been like, so we will be wary of it but we will plan to nullify it on the day. It will be a tough game but one that we will be prepared for.”
The defender concluded by encouraging the Yellow Nation to not only arrive on time to this match but to also continue supporting the boys even in the remaining matches.
“We would like to urge our supporters to come early so there are no delays. We can’t wait to hear them sing as loud as they can for us. This is our second last home game this season so we will want to finish in style and we are going to need their voices on the stands,” he concluded.
Mamelodi Sundowns will do clash with Kaizer Chiefs in a sold-out affair on Wednesday evening at Loftus Versfeld. Kick-off has been scheduled for 19H30, live on SuperSport TV.
