IN-FORM AMAZULU BRUSH ASIDE TTM

AmaZulu FC claimed a 2-0 victory over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) in the DStv Premiership match at the Jonsson Kings Park Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The victory took Usuthu to fifth place on the league standings, while Vhadau Vha Damani remained 15th on the log.

Usuthu were gifted a goal just seven minutes into the match after Siyethembe Sithebe attempted to set-up Luvuyo Memela.

However, the ball was turned home by Lebohang Mabotja as the Tshakhuma defender netted an own-goal to make it 1-0 to AmaZulu.

Vhadau Vha Damani grew in confidence as the match progressed and they applied some pressure on the Usuthu defence.

Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo’s goal-bound shot was brilliantly saved by AmaZulu goalkeeper Veli Mothwa four minutes before the half-hour mark.

Mothwa then made another good save in the 33rd minute and this time he denied Thabo Manyamane, who was looking to score from a free-kick.

The hosts then stood firm at the back and AmaZulu were leading 1-0 at the interval courtesy of Mabotja’s own-goal.

Tshakhuma continued to push for the equalising goal after the restart, but AmaZulu were defending very well at the back with Mbongeni Gumede leading the defence.

Farai Madhanaga, Thabo Rakhale and Thembisani Nevhulamba were introduced in the 69th minute as Vhadau Vha Damani looked to level matters.

Tshakhuma attacked in numbers in the closing stages of the match, but they were left vulnerable at the back and Lehlohonolo Majoro punished the visitors.

The second-half substitute tapped home a pass from Memela to make it 2-0 to AmaZulu with seven minutes left on the clock.

The goal sealed AmaZulu’s 2-0 victory over Tshakhuma as Usuthu extended their winning streak to four matches in the league under coach Benni McCarthy.
