One of Mzansi’s famous  fun filled Soweto Kota Festival and happy weekend on our Entertainment calendar is happening this Saturday and Sunday.

This annual razzmatazz festival is fast becoming our way of life and a game changer for local small businesses.

Elkah stadium Oval in Rockville, Soweto is expected to be packed to the rafters and a centre of attraction as throngs of people flock to enjoy delicious, palatable, mouth-watering magic taste of a variety of Kota menus.

Believe it or not!!!! This 5th edition is happening on Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th September.

Kota is a township slang word used to describe a hollowed bread filled with layer of seasoned French fries, topped with optional layers of sauce, cheese, egg, meat and many more relish products that gives food a magic taste.

Furthermore a handful of sponsors including TymeBank, Coca Cola, Assupol, Lucky Star, Blue Ribbon, Toyota, VW and many more  have joined forces with the festival organisers to make sure this spectacular festival becomes a huge success and delivers a five star occasion that will stand the test of time.

At a recent launch held at SUD Restaurant situated at the famous Vilakazi Street in Orlando West Soweto, Founder and Organiser of the Kota Festival Sidwell Tshingilane told the packed audience this momentous event was growing in leaps and bounds.

He further revealed there will be more than dozens  stalls and vendors displaying at the event including clothing brands and many more commodities.

“This year we are expecting more than 45 Kota outlets from all over Gauteng. Our visitors must expect a variety of old school Kotas and the modern Gourmet Kotas.

“With this social enterprise we wanted to create temporary jobs for students and unemployed youth by hiring them to service and work at festivals and conferences as Ushers, Runners and Registration crew.”

Tshingilane also revealed his Organisation, SID Entertainment was passionate about promoting small businesses in the township.

“The festival has made a lot of difference in many people’s lives since inception. We have inspired many young people to start Kota businesses and create employment for others,he said.”

Tshingilane also stressed this year’s Kota festival instalment will be even bigger and better given that people have been denied entertainment due to Covid-19.

He duly acknowledged and thanked the sponsors and stakeholders for the poetic justice support.
