ITS GAME ON FOR SNEKENEKE PRE-SEASON GAMES!!!

In case you are still in the dark, Highly charged Snekeneke pre-festive football tournament games will soon be on display come the 29th of this month.

A total of 32 teams from around Soweto and other areas outside this province will slug it out for the coveted shield plate and an earth shattering prize money.

This was revealed at the launch and draw held at Disoufeng Pub &Restaurant in Meadowlands, Soweto.

Organizers have promised to unleash an epic, bigger, better and well organised third instalment tournament.

Furthermore they also issued a stern warning and hinted a possible severe punishment to teams who are hellbent on disobeying house rules of the tournament.

This much revered tourney dubbed Kasi World Cup is famous for displaying high octane football.

 And is also expected to attract scores of Football scouts who will be eyeing talented players.

Organizers also explained the tournament will be played on weekends and  features last 16 teams of the 2021 edition and will add up with teams that have won tournaments in their respective areas.  

At the launch, a topped up prize money was also disclosed with the winners taking home the cup, and a whooping R200 000, runners up R70 000 while the third and fourth teams also take home a substantial amount still to be decided depending on the donors and other additional partial sponsors.

Tshidiso Leshaba, Co-Founder and Brainchild of this much loved tournament told the packed audience they are trying very hard to set up a very good benchmark.

“We are not competing with other tournaments, We just want to bring together all Kasi champions and make sure players get the exposure they deserve. Football is about development opportunities,” He said.

Pressed about safety and security of the tournament? Leshaba  promised the tournament will be played under the watchfull eyes of the Community Policing Forums and Kasi patrollers.

He also disclosed the tournament was also tailor-made to bring hope to small businesses around Snake Park adding that this tournament will immensely benefit them.

Thabo Motsitsi, of Soweto Young man United a partner with this tournament gave the tourney thumbs up and said this was a perfect platform to preach the message of anti Gender Based Violence for both sexes.

“We believe anti GBV campaigns are one sided. Men are also abused. Men don’t talk. They tend to keep their abuse secretly. However our message is clear we don’t support or condone GBV of any kind.”

Katlego Moabi, of Hollywood, told the audience they were very happy and grateful to be part of this tournament.

“For us its another way of giving back to the community.”

A representative from Mambas, previous winners promised his team will ferociously defend their trophy and reclaim the prize money.

Nomalanga Jiyane, From the City of Joburg, said these games adds a lot of value in surrounding communities.

“Hence it was not difficult for us to partner with them.”

This tournament is bank-rolled by Hollywood Bet, Harmony Gold, Huawei and the City of Johannesburg.

At the end of the tournament, awards for the best perfomers will be dished out at a special Gala Dinner.
