Johannesburg Social Housing Company (Joshco) is proud to announce its Riverside View project has received a Silver Award in the Affordable Housing Development category at the Reside Summit 2024. This award acknowledges Joshco’s dedication to providing high-quality, sustainable housing solutions for the community.
Launched in August 2023, Riverside View addresses the need for affordable housing in Johannesburg. The first phase is nearing completion with 180 units available. This project offers safe, comfortable and affordable homes for low-income families and individuals.
“Winning the Silver Award is a major milestone,” said Acting Chief Operating Officer Sipho Mhlambi. “It validates our efforts to push the boundaries of affordable housing.”
The City of Johannesburg has also been recognised for its effective use of municipal grants at the South African Local Government Association (Salga) Awards. The City achieved an impressive 85% spending rate on grants received in the 2022/23 financial year. These grants are crucial for funding capital projects that improve service delivery for residents.
“We take this victory seriously,” said Group Chief Financial Officer Tebogo Moraka. “These grants are vital for our service delivery programme.”
The City’s commitment to service delivery is further emphasised by their approved budget of R83.1 billion for the 2024/25 financial year.
