MANYAMA HELPS CHIEFS REACH NEDBANK CUP LAST 16

Kaizer Chiefs booked their place in the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup with a hard fought 1-0 win over Royal Eagles at FNB Stadium in Soweto on Saturday evening.

The Amakhosi were made to work hard against a team languishing at the bottom of the GladAfrica Championship standings, but the Absa Premiership leaders ultimately prevailed thanks to a moment of brilliance from Lebogang Manyama.

Chiefs were wasteful throughout the fixture in a week where rain had already caused havoc and the postponement of fixtures in several sporting codes across the Gauteng province.

One touch, two touch, three touch, goal!

Lebogang Manyama’s brilliant control in the box and clever finish was enough to see @KaizerChiefs progress to the next round of the #NedbankCup after a 1-0 victory against Royal Eagles.

The hosts looked a tad rusty on their return to action for the first time in two weeks, but welcomed Itumeleng Khune back between the posts while Khama Billiat was named among the substitutes.

The only goal of the game came through Manyama in the 70th minute.

Manyama has been in superb form this season and scored a stoppage-time winner in the club’s most recent fixture before Saturday’s clash.

He emerged as the hero once more and showcased brilliant control to take the ball past an Eagles defender before chipping the onrushing Edward Maova to send the Chiefs fans into absolute delirium.
