MAYOR GWAMANDA LEADS SERVICE DELIVERY DRIVE IN ROODEPOORT

In a concerted effort to boost service delivery in Region C, Roodepoort, the Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Councillor Kabelo Gwamanda, initiated an Accelerated Service Delivery programme, extending support to various Municipal Entities (MEs), in the area yesterday. The operation included cleaning, grass cutting, road surfacing and tree pruning along President Fouche Drive in Olivedale.

This multi-disciplinary approach signals the City’s commitment to improving the lives of residents and aligns with the vision of the City of Johannesburg and Government of Local Unity (GLU).

The programme not only focuses on on-the-ground actions but also includes a communication and marketing campaign to enhance visibility and coordination at the regional level.

It encompasses various service delivery activities, including multi-disciplinary operations, integrated by-law enforcement, stakeholder engagement sessions, and public awareness campaigns.

Mayor Gwamanda, along with the MMC for Health and Social Development, Cllr Ennie Makhafola, MMC for Community Development Cllr Lubabalo Magwentshu, MMC for Development Planning Cllr Eunice Mgcina and MMC for Public Safety Cllr Mgcini Tshwaku, including the Regional Director, Mlamleli Belot, and Ward 101 councillor Cllr Ralf Bittkau took to the streets to gain firsthand insights into the challenges faced by residents and the local business community in the area.

Mayor Gwamanda said: “I am here not as a spectator but to understand the challenges this community is facing. My presence here demonstrates the City’s commitment to actively participate and collaborate to address our residents’ needs. We are developing strategies to ensure equitable access to services for all residents.”

The mayor, some members of his team and officials from municipal entities interacted with residents, providing valuable information on how to access city services and assistance for service delivery challenges.

The initiative will continue throughout the week in ward 101, encompassing a wide range of service delivery operations by city-owned municipal entities as a pivotal step towards enhancing the quality of services for all residents.
