MOLANGOANE’S LATE STRIKE GIVES TTM VICTORY

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila secured a 1-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic in the DStv Premiership match at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Wednesday afternoon.

The victory saw Vhadau Vha Damani remain 14th on the league standings – a point above 15th-placed Chippa United, who defeated Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 on the same day.

Phunya Sele Sele slipped down to 11th place on the standings after succumbing to a defeat in Limpopo.

Vhadau Vha Damani adopted an attacking approach with the likes of Thabo Mnyamane, Thabo Rakhale and Thembisani Nevhulamba all starting.

However, Tshakhuma were contained by the Celtic defence, which was led by the tough-tackling Thato Lingwati.

At the other end, Phunya Sele Sele were lacking the cutting edge in the final third with inexperienced striker Menzi Ndwandwe leading the attack.

The score was 0-0 during the half-time break with the two teams having failed to find the back of the net in the first half.

Celtic head coach John Maduka introduced experienced strikers Victor Letsoalo and Motebang Sera prior to the start of the second half.

Phunya Sele Sele pushed for the opening goal with Lantshane Phalane and Given Mashikinya pulling the strings from the middle of the park.

The Tshakhuma technical team decided to introduce Joseph Molangoane, Lerato Lamola and Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo eight minutes after the hour-mark.

Molangoane proved to be an inspired substitute as the former Orlando Pirates winger scored in the 74th minute to hand Tshakhuma the lead with Ndlondlo grabbing an assist.

Tshakhuma then stood firm at the back and ultimately they emerged 1-0 winners over Celtic on the day.
