DISKI FESTIVAL: LIMPOPO FINALLY GETS ITS MDC TURN

The MultiChoice Diski Challenge (PSL Reserve League) will, for the first time since inception, visit Limpopo Province next week with Seshego Stadium in Polokwane as hosts.

The Diski Challenge has been going around the country – from Umlazi to Kimberly, Mdantsane, Kanyamazane and other areas. The main aim is to bring football closer to the communities.

The Seshego Festival will take place on Saturday, 27 and Sunday, 28 January 2018.

This festival comes at a time when the Diski Challenge is reaching its crescendo. With five rounds of fixtures left this season, Lamontville Golden Arrows are still leading the pack with 25 points from 11 matches. The youthful Golden Arrows squad are chasing their second Diski Challenge crown but they face stiff competition from a number of clubs who are still within a shot.

They are followed by Bloemfontein Celtic who are sitting on 22 points and Maritzburg United on 21 points. Completing the top four is Ajax Cape Town on 20 points.

The reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns are having a season they would like to forget. Consequently, they are currently sitting on the bottom half of the log. Platinum Stars, who are rooted at the bottom, registered their first win against Golden Arrows last Sunday.

All this means there is a lot to play for in Seshego Stadium this coming weekend as the season nears the end.

On Saturday, Bidvest Wits will lock horns with Platinum Stars at 10h00 and Free State stars will play Orlando Pirates at 12h00.

On Sunday the two Polokwane based teams, Baroka FC and Polokwane City will host Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs. The first match of the day will be between Baroka FC and Mamelodi Sundowns at 10h00. Polokwane City will host Kaizer Chiefs in the last match of the festival, kick-off will be at 12h00.

Entry is free on both days but members of the public will be issued with a ticket as part of access control. Tickets will be available at the stadium’s ticket office on Thursday and Friday from 13h00. They will also be available at activation points around the Seshego area. Only two tickets will be allocated per person on a first-come basis.

Fans attending and those watching live on SuperSport 4 and Select (Channel 210) stand a chance of winning a trip for two to Spain accompanying the winning team. Competition details are available on the competition’s social media pages, Asidlali on Facebook and @Asidlali on Twitter, as well as at the start of the live broadcast on SuperSport 4.
