Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane says his side’s failure to convert their chances cost them a possible victory against Bidvest Wits.Mosimane also admitted that the Clever Boys showed more intensity in the first half, with the Johannesburg side scoring five minutes before halftime through Ben Motshwari to set up a 1-0 win on Monday evening.

The result took the Students one points above Sundowns at the top of the league standings, with five matches left to play for both clubs.

“I think it was a game of missed chances from both sides, but I think we had more in the first half,” Mosimane said after the game.

“To be honest, in the first half they wanted it more than us, they fought more, they had a bigger fight than us in the first half.

“It’s football, you have to accept it. We had chances but we didn’t take them,” he added.

Mosimane also chose not to point any fingers at his defence, who have been in fine form in recent weeks.

“Football is not about should have and could have, the ball must go inside the net. We’ve been having a good run, we’ve been scoring a lot of goals and only conceded one,” he pointed out.

“You are ungrateful or unfair to the players if you want to complain about conceding one goal in six games. We still have six [five] games to go.”
