Royal AM claimed maximum points their latest DStv Premiership fixture as they dismantled Sekhukhune United in a 2-0 victory at the Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday evening.

The game got off to a frantic start, as Royal AM and Sekhukhune United rushed to open the scoreboard. As the dust settled, it was the home side who looked more comfortable on the ball as they managed to string passing sequences together.

As the 15th minute approached, Babina Noko were reduced to hitting Royal AM on the counter but struggled to make the most of their forward movements.

With 25 minutes on the clock, Royal AM looked sharp on the ball and enjoyed large periods of possession during the first half. Sekhukhune however, did not hold back and created goal scoring chances of their own.

The game reached a tacky period after the half-hour mark as both teams found themselves battling it out for the ball in the middle of the park.

Royal AM took the lead on the stroke of halftime as Thabo Matlaba found himself in an inviting position inside the Sekhukhune penalty area. Facing Badra Sangare one-on-one, the marauding full-back found the back of the net with a cleanly struck effort.

As the hour mark arrived, Sekhukhune began dominating the ball possession count but was let down by poor finishing in the final third. Also, Royal AM kicked into game-management mode after making a couple of substitutions.

Royal AM proved to be a tough nut to crack in defensive situations and did well to ward off the Sekhukhune attacks. In supplementing their water tight defence, Royal AM looked deadly on the break. The home side doubled their lead with a swift counter-attacking move that saw Ruzaigh Gamildien adding his name to the scoresheet.

The game opened up during stoppage time as both teams had ample opportunities to get on the scoreboard. However, it was Royal AM who preserved their lead and clean sheet in claiming a 2-0 win at the Chatsworth Stadium.
